Hooker League cricket update
L J Hooker League cricket teams in the Ballina Shire area have some catching up to do if they are to contest the semi-finals.
The final round for 2005 saw only one match, Ballina Bears v Alstonville, completed. The others fell victim to widespread storm activity across the region.
That result saw Bears finish the year in equal sixth place on 17 points.
Competition leaders are Lismore team Easts on 32 points, followed by Casino Cavaliers on 29, Tintenbar-East Ballina on 26, with Marist Brothers and Lennox Head rounding out the top five teams on 20 points.
Then come the Bears on 17, Lismore Souths on 17, Alstonville and Workers on 16, and Norths-Goonellabah RSL on 11.
The competition will resume on January 14 and there will be four rounds before the semi-finals are played on March 18 and 19.
Tintenbar-East Ballina has matches to play against Norths-Goonellabah RSL, Alstonville, Casino Cavaliers and Lennox Head.
Bears will play Workers, Souths, Norths-Goonellabah RSL and Easts.
Lennox Head take on Souths, Workers, Brothers and Tintenbar-East Ballina.
Alstonville’s remaining games are against Brothers, Tintenbar-East Ballina, Souths and Norths-Goonellabah RSL.
