Jetstar announce Melbourne to Ballina/Byron route!
Some time tomorrow Jetstar’s Manager of Corporate Relations, Simon Westaway, along with Mayor of Ballina Shire, Cr Phil Silver will make an official announcement that Jetstar will become the first carrier to link up a service between Melbourne and Ballina Byron Gateway Airport.
“To almost double our offering six months into operations and to introduce a brand new route reflects the strong support we have had from both the local community and inbound tourists,” Mr Westaway said.
“By introducing the first ever direct services from Melbourne, we are tapping Ballina Byron into the second largest capital city market with unprecedented opportunities.
“Since we commenced operations, we have discussed the possibility of this route with key community stakeholders and the Ballina Shire and collectively we have every confidence that our all day every day low fares on this route will be very well received,” he said.
Both new Sydney and Melbourne services will be operated by 177 seater Airbus A320s with the carrier transitioning to an entire fleet of 23 new A320s by the middle of this year becoming the domestic carrier with the youngest fleet in Australia.
This is a great announcement for the local area and is set to increase tourist numbers significantly.
Flights will commence on March 28th and will service three flights per week. Jestar have also announced an opening special of $79 which is subject to availability and only available on the Internet at Jetstar.com.
