Ballina district sports grants announced
Member for Ballina Don Page has announced the allocation of $47,217 from the 2005/2006 Capital Assistance Grants program by the Department of Sport and Recreation for the Ballina electorate.
“This ever popular sports grants scheme assists with the establishment and enhancement of facilities across a range of recreational activities”, Mr Page said.
The local recipients of this year’s grants are:
- The Bangalow Sports Association has received $10,000 for the extension of the amenities building at Shultz Oval, Bangalow.
- Lennox Head Soccer Club has been granted $4000 to upgrade the Skennars Head sporting fields.
- $9750 has been granted to the Alstonville Soccer Club for lighting at Crawford Park.
- The Tintenbar East Ballina Soccer Club has received $8636 for ground lighting at Chickiba sports ground.
- $3278 has been allocated to the Ballina Soccer Club for portable soccer goal posts at Saunders Oval.
- Ballina Little Athletics Club has been granted $4996 for shade structures.
The grants are matched dollar for dollar by the individual sporting groups.
