Andrew Gordon stars but Queensland wins Imparja Cup cricket

Ballina Bears all-rounder Andrew Gordon continued his good form in the Imparja Cup cricket tournament at Alice Springs but once again it was Queensland who took the title.

In the opening game, Gordon, representing New South Wales, took 1/10 as his team bundled out Tasmania for 84. Gordon was 20 not out when NSW overhauled the target for the loss of three wickets.

His brother Adam played in his first match of the tournament, against Tasmania, but did not get to bat or bowl.

Andrew Gordon scored 38 not out in the first-day win over the ACT.

NSW easily won that match, dismissing ACT for 124. Andrew Gordon took 1-30 from eight overs.

Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of Andrew Gordon, NSW could not stop Queensland winning a third successive Imparja Cup final.

New South Wales won the toss at Traeger Park but was all out for just 90 in the 33rd over. Andrew Gordon scored 20 on a wicket which was below standard for the final.

NSW was travelling comfortably but lost 8-28 in a dramatic collapse. Queensland reached the 91-run target for the loss of six wickets.

The Imparja Cup is an annual competition played between Indigenous teams from every State and Territory.
