Bangalow’s Kaye Hall is the Ballina Electorate Woman of the Year

Bangalow’s Kaye Hall has been named Ballina Electorate Woman of the Year, Member for Ballina Don Page announced on February 24.

Mr Page said Kaye was an obvious choice for the award due to her never-ending dedication to the Bangalow community.

However, Mr Page said it was a bittersweet announcement because Kaye is currently battling serious health issues.

“Kaye is simply an inspiration. Her involvement with community organisations and events is second-to-none despite events in her personal life,” Mr Page said.

“Kaye has devoted countless hours to the Bangalow Chamber of Commerce, Bangalow Lions Club, the Heritage House 355 Committee of Management and the Bangalow Fire Brigade.

“She is also the primary organiser of the Bangalow Christmas Eve Carnival and Bangalow Relay for Life as well as being involved in the organisation of the Bangalow Billy Cart Derby.

“Kaye is also involved with the Bangalow Soccer Club committee and is a former president of the Bangalow Cricket Club, in addition to continually promoting the Bangalow community through her work as a journalist for Bangalow’s Heartbeat, the Byron Shire Echo and The Northern Star.

“Kaye is overwhelmingly deserving of being recognised for her efforts.”

Mr Page said Kaye’s selection as the Ballina Electorate Woman of the Year would now see her nominated for the NSW Woman of the Year and invited to the Premier’s Reception for International Women’s Day in
March.

He said the selection criteria for the NSW Woman of the Year was centred around 2006 being the National Year of the Community.
