Ballina Soccer Club Enters the ANZAC Cup

After some debate, the powers of Ballina Soccer Club have decided to enter the 2006 ANZAC Cup. The uncertain start to the season seems a long time ago, now that new Premier Division coach, Peter Lang has assumed control.

The ANZAC CUP is the opening competition of the football season, with Ballina being the current holders of the Cup after defeating Goonellabah in a dramatic final rematch last year.

Ballina Soccer Club were originally not going to attempt to defend the title this year, due to the fact that the position of head coach was not filled after Dean Klower stepped down. But local boy Peter Lang has now stepped in, adding the security the club needed to get underway in 2006.

Lang wants to take the club in a new direction, with some new ideas to freshen the attitudes of the existing players and to attract new recruits. Anyone who thinks they might like to strap on the footballl boots and strengthen the ranks are encouraged to head down to Saunders Oval and try out for the 2006 season.
