Weekend surf check

A strong northerly wind on Friday but there was still a solid north-east swell to 1.5m. North Flat Rock and South Ballina were the pick of the spots.

The Bureau of Meteorology was predicting east-south-easterly winds for Saturday rising to 20 knots on Sunday, with south to south-east winds to 30 knots by Monday.

Check the sheltered northern headlands early before the wind gets up, and have a look at places such as North Wall, Flat Rock and Boulders once the wind turns south-east. Once the wind gets to the south, Broken Head also could be worth a look while the swell is still north-east.
