Where they’re biting around Ballina, Lennox Head
New South Wales Fishing Monthly editor Tony Zann reports on the fishing around Ballina and Lennox Head …
Bruce Legge at Dave’s Bait Shop says the blue water is pushing up to around the Burns Point ferry, with quite a few bream, whiting and flathead on the edge of the dirty water upstream.
Blackfish have been taken on yabbies on the falling tide around the North Wall.
The sea has picked up so there have been some good jew around the walls on soft plastics like the 130mm or 150mm Squidgy Fish in Drop Bear colour.
Some tailor on South Beach and the headlands north of Ballina, with the odd bream and dart as well.
Still the odd mackerel outside and patches of cobia but it hasn’t been a great season for macks yet due to the dirty water. On the 32- and 48-fathom reefs there have been some good snapper and pearl perch to make the trip worthwhile.
