Ballina Seagulls rugby league team will meet arch-rivals Marist Brothers in the opening round of the 2006 Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League season on April 2.
The match will be at Ballina’s Kingsford Smith Park.
The Seagulls rounded out their pre-season preparation with a win in three grades over Lower Clarence at Maclean.

Tintenbar-East Ballina will contest their fifth L J Hooker League cricket grand final in the past six years when they take on Southern Districts in next weekend’s decider at Oakes Oval, Lismore.

A strong northerly wind on Friday but there was still a solid north-east swell to 1.5m. North Flat Rock and South Ballina were the pick of the spots.
The Bureau of Meteorology was predicting east-south-easterly winds for Saturday rising to 20 knots on Sunday, with south to south-east winds to 30 knots by Monday.

Former Ballina resident Adam Pine will recite the athletes’ oath at the March 15 opening of the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.
The honour caps a great career for Pine, who will swim at his fourth Commonwealth Games.
Pine, 29, who now lives in Canberra, gained selection by winning the 100m butterfly in the Games trials on February 3.
