Lennox Head to host netball camp

The third annual Far North Coast Netball Junior Player Development and Coach Education Camp is being held at Lake Ainsworth, Sport and Recreation Centre, Lennox Head, on April 21–23.

There will be more than 70 10-year-old to12-year-old girls in attendance. They represent a wide cross section of players from the region from Tweed Heads in the north to Woolgoolga in the south and west to Casino and all towns in between.

Accredited netball coaches will staff the camp, which will focus on netball technique, skill development and game play with maximum participation and enjoyment. There are also other supervised recreational activities incorporated into the program such as canoeing.

“The Coach Education component of the camp provides the chance for newly accredited Level 1 coaches to live-in and assist in the delivery of the program under the mentorship of the Netball NSW Head Coach,” said Leslie Kirk, the Far North Coast netball co-ordinator.

“The camp provides these coaches with the opportunity to increase their netball coaching knowledge with practical development of skill and technique delivery to this age group of players.

“Kimberly Purcell from the Hunter Jaegers National Netball League team is the elite player in attendance. Kimberly is a highly acclaimed player and will run specialist defence sessions with the girls on the Saturday.”
