Dizzy’s double ton a delight

How good was it to see Jason Gillespie score a double century against Test cricket minnows Bangladesh!

His 201 not out makes him the only nightwatchman to score a double ton.

‘Dizzy’ has often played a strong supporting role which enabled established batsmen to get to a hundred or to dig Australia out of trouble.

He previously had scored a couple of fifties; now he’s reached three figures, and in a big way.

You had to admire Gillespie for the way he took his axing from the Australian side during the last Ashes series. Rather than give the selectors a blast, he simply admitted that he wasn’t playing well.

Now, given a second chance, he’s taken a bag of wickets and scored a double ton. Great to see!

We now wonder whether his effort will inspire Glenn McGrath to reach his maiden Test century. We’d love to see that, too!
