Another major win for Redoak brewery

Fredoakormer Tintenbar resident David Hollyoak, pictured, has scored another major win with his Redoak specialty beers. Now based in Sydney, David and his sister Janet run the Redoak Boutique Beer Cafe. On Thursday night it was announced that Redoak had won the Grand Champion award at the Australian International Beer Awards, held in Melbourne.

They won for their Redoak Special Reserve, which is available only to patrons of the cafe in Sydney’s CBD and is served in 60ml amounts at the end of a meal.

The win followed Redoak’s double at the World Beer Cup in Seattle, where David’s beers won two gold medals (see http://www.ballina.info/blog/2006/04/30/redoak-brews-up-world-champion-beers/)

“The award hasn’t been won by an Australian brewer for seven years, so there were big elebrations all around the industry,” David’s sister Kerry, Redoak’s distribution manager for northern New South Wales and Queensland, told Ballina Info.

Redoak is looking to expand its distribution to northern New South Wales and southern Queensland.
