Ballina Shire Council draft management plan prepared

Ballina Shire Council has prepared its draft Management Plan for the financial year 2006/07 and the plan includes a proposal to apply to the Minister for Local Government for an increase in rate income of 3.72 per cent above the NSW rate pegging limit.

The council says the draft Management Plan outlines items such as:

  • The proposed rates and charges for 2006/07
  • Details of the programmes provided by the council
  • An overview of the capital works planned for 2006/07   

The council says major items of interest in the draft plan for 2006/07 include: 

  • A proposal to apply to the Minister for Local Government for an increase in rate income of 3.72 per cent above the NSW rate pegging limit
  • A proposal to increase waste collection and disposal charges by up to 15 per cent to finance remediation and expansion works at the Ballina waste disposal centre.

“The draft Management Plan also provides for $50,000 to be allocated as financial assistance for community groups to assist in the provision of services that benefit the community,” the council said.

The draft Management Plan is on exhibition until Monday, June 12. As part of the exhibition process the council will also be holding four public meetings to review the contents of the draft plan. The dates and venues for these meetings are on the council’s website.
