Weekend surf, fishing report
A small south-east swell has provided moderate conditions this week and the trend looks set to continue over the weekend, with moderate south to south-east winds forecast.
North Wall at Ballina and Flat Rock have been popular, with the Wall, as usual, picking up the biggest of the swell– waves over a metre have kept surfers in the water this week.
Mid-week the swell was up a little and yours truely thought he’d take the mal for a paddle at The Pass at Byron Bay. It had been years since I’d surfed there.
The waves were nice, but the crowd … give me a B-grade wave with only a handful of surfers out any day!
On the fishing front, that most dedicated species of angler, the luderick-chasers, are still waiting for the fish to come on.
There’s been reports of nice catches of bream, whiting and flathead in the estauries, and the slight sea conditions have allowed anglers the chance to try the beaches for tailor — with some success.
