Lennox Head to host surfing coaching course

NSW Sport and Recreation has teamed up with Surfing NSW to offer an accredited Level 1 Surf-Riding Coaching Course in Lennox Head in June.

Lennox Head has a world renowned reputation for its right point break and has been selected as one of only two regional venues for this year’s National Coaching Accreditation Scheme (NCAS) throughout NSW.

“NCAS-approved courses are recognised internationally and nationally as the standard for surf coaching,” said NSW Sport and Recreation development officer Teena Reeves.

“This course will cover the necessary theory components of the NCAS and the Level 1 Sports Specific requirements of Surfing Australia. Topics such as basic psychology, surfing injuries and prevention, physical conditioning, role of the coach, basic instructional methods and many more will be presented throughout the program.

“This is a great opportunity for community members interested in developing their surfing skills further or for those interested in pursuing a career within the industry.”

The Lennox Head Course will be held at the Lake Ainsworth Sport and Recreation CentreĀ over two days on the weekend of Jun e 24 and 25.

Ms Reeves says pre-enrolment is essential and interested participants are encouraged to enrol early as places are limited.
