Elderly man dies in Tintenbar crash
An elderly man has died following a collision at Tintenbar, near Ballina. Police said that about 8.30am today, a Toyota Hilux four-wheel drive with a horse float was travelling south on the Pacific Highway, when it and a Hyundai sedan collided at the intersection of Ross Lane.
The driver of the car, a 75-year-old Ballina man, was killed in the crash. His two female passengers, aged 74 and 48, were taken by ambulance to Ballina and Lismore Hospitals in serious condition.
The male driver of the four-wheel drive was uninjured, as were the two horses travelling in the float.
Police from Richmond Local Area Command and the Ballina Crash Investigation Unit attended the scene and conducted inquiries.
