Weekend surf report
It’s All Girls Surf Showdown time. The annual event starts on Saturday, with organisers hoping to have the first heat under way by 7.30am. Surfing will continue on Sunday and Monday.
The forecast for the weekend is showers increasing to rain on Saturday, showers on Sunday but a south-west to southerly chage, and southerlies on Monday.
This week started with a rise in swell which provided decent waves at Flat Rock, Boulders and Lennox beaches, but today it’s dropped to about a metre. Hopefully it won’t drop further and the girls will have something decent to surf in.

Meanwhile, surfers at Flat Rock this morning were given a real treat — a whale calf was spotted just north of the rock, close to the surfers.
