Where they’re biting

NSW Fishing Monthly editor Tony Zann reports on the local fishing scene …

Bruce at Dave’s Bait Shop says there are still a few flatties and whiting kicking around the river, with some whiting around Broadwater as well.

Bream are starting to move a little better along the beaches but there are still only mainly small ones in the river.

Tailor have shrunk back to chopper size around the beaches and headlands with only the odd quality fish.

The big shakers and movers this week are the jewfish, which are in fair numbers around the headlands and in lower reaches of the river, with livies and lures working well.

Not a lot of reports from outside but there should be a few snapper on the close reefs, with reds and pearlies out wider if the conditions allow.
