Sylvia Smith Singers to get a portable piano
The efforts of the Sylvia Smith Singers, a group which entertains retirement home residents, have been rewarded with a $3000 grant to purchase a portable piano.
Member for Ballina Don Page said: “The Sylvia Smith Singers have been entertaining the region’s retirement home residents with their enjoyable performances for 23 years.
“Many of the retirement homes do not have a suitable piano to accompany the singers.
“This much-needed funding provided by the Premier’s Department will ensure all retirement home residents and other community groups can enjoy the full benefit of the entertainment provided by the Sylvia Smith Singers.
“The Sylvia Smith Singers are hard working and very much appreciated by the local community.
“It has been very pleasing to be able to help secure this funding for the group – they are entirely deserving of this grant.”
