Evans Head venue for ‘Healthy Parents/Happy Kids Program’
Following the success of the trial earlier this year, another ‘Healthy Parents/Happy Kids Program’ will be held in Evans Head from today.
The North Coast Area Health Service says the six-week, yoga-based program is aimed at boosting the health of parents and improving their ability to care for 0-12 year old children.
The weekly sessions will be based around a free beginner yoga course and focus on reducing the isolation often experienced by parents in a rural area. Through stretching exercises and relaxation techniques, it will also address health and stress issues.
The program, run by the Child and Family Health Team at Evans Head Community Health, has been designed by a qualified yoga teacher, a social worker and the early childhood nurse. To ensure participating parents are not distracted, free childcare will be provided.
The program runs for six weeks, from 10.00am-midday. Places are limited, so contact Dorothy Ticknor from the Child and Family Health Team on 6683 9121 or 6682 4899 as soon as possible.
