Triple:X: takes a bold new step

donnieboardsTriple:X: Aquatic Clothing Company, a local surfing business success story, has a new home.

Company founder Don Munro has taken the plunge and moved his business from an ancient shed at Fig Tree Drive, Lennox Head, to classy new premises in Piper Drive in Ballina’s northern industrial estate.

It’s a big move for the business, which has emerged from humble beginnings as a rash shirt maker into one which is now leading the way in wetsuit technology.

Triple:X: wetsuits use a special titanium-lined product which produces extra-light suits. They’re comfy to wear but still keep the winter chills at bay.

Don has relied heavily on internet sales over the past few years but the new direct-sales premises gives Triple:X: even more prominence.

Don has been involved in the surfing business ’since the 1960s’, he told Ballina Info — he was founder of the popular Mango brand in the 1970s.

The opening of the premises also sees Triple:X: expanding its range to other surfwear such as boardshorts and clothing. There’s also some very fine surfing artwork hanging, which in itself is worth a look.

Judging by the turn-up at this morning’s opening, the business is set to boom even more.
