Ballina Girl Guides get a funding boost
Ballina Girl Guides has been awarded a $3900 grant to assist in the maintenance of the Girl Guides hall, Member for Ballina Don Page said today.
Mr Page said he was delighted he was able to assist in securing funding for the Guides to revamp the 50-year-old hall in Swift Street, which was in need of ceiling replastering, electrical work and ceiling fans.
“The Ballina Girl Guides group is an integral part of our community, providing girls with self-confidence, independence and leadership skills,” Mr Page said.
“It is so pleasing their role in the community has been recognised with this much-needed grant.
“Up until now, the Ballina Girl Guides have covered the costs of using the hall, such as insurance, electricity and minor maintenance, through raffles, fundraising and funding from Ballina Shire Council and local community groups such as the Senior Citizens Association.
“But the age of the hall has meant major maintenance works must be carried out at significant cost.
“This grant will mean the hall can be revamped and enjoyed by many more generations of Ballina Girl Guides.”
