State Government criticised over Alstonville bypass
The NSW Labor Government has shown its complete ignorance of issues affecting the Far North Coast by labelling the Alstonville bypass part of the Pacific Highway, Member for Ballina Don Page said today.
Mr Page said the out-of-touch NSW Labor Government responded to a question on the status of the Alstonville bypass posed during the recent Budget Estimates by spouting facts about the Pacific Highway upgrade.
“It is of great concern that this Labor Government is so disconnected from regional areas, it believes the Alstonville bypass is part of the Pacific Highway, rather than the Bruxner Highway,” Mr Page said.
“This is completely unacceptable. Not only has this Government reneged on its promise to build the bypass by the end of this year, now it can’t even get the location right.
“This Government is so city-centric, it doesn’t know the Alstonville bypass is not on the Pacific Highway.
“It is clear the only way the Alstonville bypass is going to be built is under a NSW Liberal/Nationals Coalition Government.”
