Ballina to host school surfing national titles

surfpic.jpgThe nation’s best school surfers will converge on Ballina later this month for the 2006 Australian School Surfing Championships.

It will be first time the event is held in Ballina and it’s sure to be a huge financial boost for the town, as well as providing top surfing action.

The event begins with an opening ceremony at Southern Cross School K-12 gymnasium on Saturday, November 25, at noon and finishing by 1.45pm.

Quiksilver and Samsung are the major sponsors and they will be displaying some of their products in the garden area in front of the gym.

There will be a barbecue and entertainment.

A parade of State teams to honour the surfers, speeches from elite surfers and photographs will wrap up the day.

Sunday November 26 will see the start of the competition and after seven days of competition they will conclude on Saturday, December 2.
