Lennox Head surfer Adam Melling stars in Hawaii’s OP Pro

Melling defeated Randall Paulson (Hawaii), John Gnomes (Hawaii) and Neco Padaratz (Brazil) to advance to round three. He face Dayyan Neves (Australia), Gonny Zubizareta (Spain) and Hank Gaskell (Hawaii) in his next heat.

Unfortunately, the big swells Hawaii is noted for haven’t as yet eventuated for the OP Pro, but after growing up with Lennox Point as his home break, Adam will be ready if the big waves do come.

Adam, 21, is a former Bells Pro Junior winner (2004) and World Pro Junior Team member. He’s been surfing since he was five.

The OP Pro is second last event on the 2006 World Qualifying Series (WQS) with US$125 000 in prize money. The OP Pro is the first jewel in the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing.
