Weekend surf report
A southerly change this morning has given organisers of the Australian junior titles, being held in Ballina for the first time, some hope of improved conditions.
After a week of northerlies, the swell is small.
The titles begin on Sunday after tomorrow’s welcome at Southern Cross School.
The weather bureau is predicting north to north-east winds through until next week, but hundreds of young surfers who will compete in the titles will be hoping that forecast is wrong.
More northerlies will mean poor surf; a couple of days of southerlies could mean the opposite.
Let’s hope that there’s good waves for the grommets!
As for the older ‘groms’, our best bet for a surf is to check the beaches early.
