Weekend surf report for Ballina

There’s a solid easterly swell to 2m but the dreaded northerlies are back.

And according to the weather bureau, they’ll stick around on Saturday but there will be a southerly change on Sunday.

No doubt those competing in the Australian Grommet titles being held in Ballina for the first time will appreciate the bigger waves after a week of mostly knee-high stuff.

You can expect the swell to drop off a bit overnight due to the northerly, so try the beaches early on Saturday. South Wall could be OK provided the bank next to the wall has improved.
