Ballina Shire Summer Bus Services
Additional temporary bus services will be operating in the Ballina Shire thanks to a successful funding submission made by Ballina Shire Council to the NSW Ministry of Transport.
The extra bus services will be available to residents and visitors in the Shire during the month of January 2007. It is anticipated that the services will be particularly attractive to young people wanting to access the services and facilities of the Ballina Town Centre as well as the local beaches.
Ballina Shire Mayor, Councillor Phillip Silver said ‘The bus services will provide additional opportunities for residents and visitors to safely and reliably access services and facilities without the need to drive their own car.’
Natalie Chapman, Council’s Road Safety Officer, said ‘using the Summer Bus is the smart way to go for people who may want to have a few drinks, knowing that they can get home safely’.
There will be two additional service routes within the Shire, one in the north, being the Ballina to Lennox Head route, and one in the south linking Cabbage Tree Island and Wardell to Ballina.
The Ballina to Lennox Head route will commence from Ballina at 6.15 pm and the last bus will depart from Lennox Head at 9.45 pm. The cost of the trip will be $3.00 per person each way.
The southern route will be a charter service that will operate during the day, with a morning trip into Ballina and an afternoon trip returning from Ballina to Wardell and Cabbage Tree Island. The cost will be a gold coin donation each way.
