Ballina Council GM’s resignation ‘accepted with regret’
Ballina Council Mayor Cr Phillip Silver has ‘accepted with regret’ the resignation of John Christopherson as General Manager of Ballina Council.
“Mr Christopherson has been General Manager since May 2005 and has seen the Council through an important time. All who have dealt with him have been impressed with his ethics, professionalism and management style,” the Mayor said.
“John and his partner will be returning to Brisbane where John has accepted a senior management position on a major infrastructure project. We wish him well.”
Mr Christopherson said: “I have been impressed at the professionalism and work ethic of the Council staff. I was also impressed by the personal commitment of the elected Councillors.
“Brisbane is home for us and for family and personal reasons it’s time for us to return. I would like to thank the Mayor, the elected Council and the team at the Council for an enjoyable and rewarding time at Ballina.”
Ballina’s Group Manager of Corporate Services, Paul Hickey, has been appointed as Acting General Manager, pending ratification by Council.
