Bathtub towed through Griffith streets; man charged
The following story has absolutely no relevance to Ballina whatsoever, but if ever there’s an example of the ’silly season’, this is it …
Police have a charged a p-plater with drink-driving after he was caught towing a friend sitting in a bathtub through Griffith on Friday night.
It’s alleged the 18-year-old man used rope to attach the porcelain bathtub to his Toyota Hilux and towed his friend through several local streets.
His 30-year-old companion was wearing a helmet, overalls and motorcycle boots during the stunt.
Police breath-tested the driver and he allegedly returned a reading of 0.145.
An 18-year-old local man has been charged with mid-range drink-driving and driving in a manner dangerous to the public.
His licence has been suspended and he is due to appear at Griffith Local Court on Monday 10 January 2007.
