Ballina surf report

Santa delivered for surfers this week, with improved conditions bringing small surf from Evans Head north to Byron Bay.

Today in Ballina there’s a good clean swell to four feet, with waves at North Wall and Shelly Beach. Lennox Main Beach also has some nice beach breaks.

Flat Rock also has had good conditions, while there are reports of smaller but still pleasant surfing conditions at Wategos Beach at Byron.

The weather bureau predicts east to north-easterly winds over the weekend, so it would be wise to get to the beaches early.

The only downside to the improved conditions has been the crowds, with North Wall packed with holiday makers this morning, and more than 50 out at Flat Rock yesterday.

But it is that time of year, so we just have to put up with it.
