Byron Bay police act against anti-social behaviour
Four people have been charged following a police operation at Byron Bay aimed at cracking down on anti-social behaviour.
Police from Tweed/Bryon Local Area Command say they have conducted extensive investigations as part of Operation Cull.
The operation has been running since early December.
The following arrests have been made:
• A 16-year-old Byron Bay male youth charged with assault. He’s been granted conditional bail, to appear at Byron Bay Children’s Court on 19 January, 2007.
• A 17-year-old Suffolk Park male youth charged with malicious damage. He’s been granted conditional bail, to appear at Byron Bay Children’s Court on 9 February, 2007.
• An 18-year-old Suffolk Park man charged with trespass. He’s been granted conditional bail, to appear at Byron Bay Local Court on 9 February, 2007.
• A 16-year-old Wategos male youth charged with trespass. He’s been granted conditional bail, to appear at Byron Bay Children’s Court on 9 February, 2007.
In addition, 10 infringement notices were issued for traffic-related offences, five notices for disobey police direction, and one issued for aggravated littering.
Tweed/Byron Inspector Owen King said: “Anti-social behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated by police.
“The city is here for everyone to enjoy. Offenders who jeopardise public safety and welfare will be dealt with accordingly.”
Police say they will continue to target anti-social behaviour throughout the summer period.
