Weekend fishing report

NSW Fishing Monthly editor Tony Zann’s weekly fishing report …

Matt at Dave’s Bait Shop says there have been some tailor and salmon off the walls.

A heap of big flathead in the river with some on lures and some on live bait and they’re still killing some big fish there. Five flatties over 5kg through the door this week.

A few blackfish around Flat Rock on worms and some whiting and flathead in the gutter on the northern side.

Not many reports from outside in the past few days but before that there were wahoo and small black marlin. A few Spanish mackerel at Black Head and Lennox Point.

Good school jew in the river around Wardell, and mud crabs around Rileys Hill and further up. Pimlico for whiting on the flats and school jew and flathead in the hole.

Trevally going well in the Prospect Lakes with the odd jack. Trevally also as far up as Pimlico.

I haven’t been at Evans this week so I really can’t say what’s going on lately but on Monday there were some rather nice flathead and whiting in the surf at Airforce Beach.
