Ballina CBD may get reduced parking time limits
A reduction in car parking time restrictions in the CBD is being considered by Ballina Shire Council following a review of parking patterns.
The review was carried out on Thursday, November 18, 2004, between 8am and 5pm. It covered the area from Kerr Street east to Martin Street and from Tamar Street to south of River Street.
The consultants’ report of the review has recently been posted on the council website.
The report’s recommendations include:
- The introduction of some 15-minute limits at strategic locations along River Street between Grant and Martin streets.
- The introduction of two-hour limits within the cul-de-sacs of Fawcett Lane and Cherry Street.
- The introduction of one-hour limits on Moon Street and Cherry Street south of Tamar Street.
- The introduction of two-hour limits to the southern kerb of Tamar Street between Grant and Moon streets.
- Increased enforcement of restrictions because the current time limits are being exceeded.
The report finds that the CBD does not at this stage need additional parking, but that introduction of the recommendations could lead to a decrease in long-term commuter parking for CDB employees.
The council will accept submissions until 4pm on Monday, February 5. They should be addressed to the General Manager and be marked ‘Submission — Ballina CBD Parking Review’.
Submissions also can be emailed to cbdparking@ballina.nsw.gov.au
