Ballina Council offers computers to community groups
A recent upgrade of Ballina Shire Council’s computer system will have benefits for eligible community groups in the shire.
The council says that as a result of the upgrade of Information Technology equipment, it will be donating surplus personal computers to eligible community groups.
“These computers have been replaced with new machines and are therefore surplus to council’s needs. However, council prefers to see them benefit local community-based organisations rather than being refurbished and sent offshore,” said zcting General Manager Paul Hickey.
“The Community PC Donation Program will provide community groups with an opportunity to avail themselves of computer equipment that they otherwise would not have access to.”
The computers will be donated based on community groups satisfying eligibility criteria. An information kit containing an application form and eligibility criteria can be obtained from the council’s website or from the Council Chambers.
Submissions close at 4pm on February 9.
