Lennox Head-Alstonville lifesavers star at Country titles

Lennox Head-Alstonville Surf Lifesaving Club proved to be the surprise packet on day one of the NSW Country championships at Port Macquarie today.

Lennox Head Alstonville finished the day leading the junior pointscore, was fifth in the senior pointscore, and third in the overall pointscore.

Club members Luke Mortimer (Under-15), Haydon Thomas (Under-14) and Michael Barnett (Under-13) beat the best country has to offer in winning their ironman events.

Sebastian Fahey picked up valuable points for the club by winning the Under-10 surf race and finishing second in the board race.

In the female open division, Lennox Head-Alstonville’s Nadi Canning was third in the ironwoman, while Kamley Lyndon won the flags event. Kamley also won the Under-19 flags event.

Ellie Leaver won the Under-13 ironwoman, and was second in the surf race.

Under-8 competitor Hannah Sculley won the wade event from clubmate Scarlett Fahey, and they repeated the one-two finish in the flags event.

In junior teams events, Lennox Head-Alstonville won the Under-13, Under-11 and Under-10 board relays, and the Under-10 surf teams.

Emily Battese, who lives at Lennox but competes for Byron Bay, won the Under-14 ironwoman and surf race.
