Alstonville bowlers chip in for good causes

The Alstonville Bowling Club’s Social Club has helped out two great local organisations in the Northern Rivers. Thanks to recent fundraising functions, $2000 has been raised to assist Prostate Cancer support and Our Kids, which raises money for the Children’s Ward at Lismore Base Hospital.

The Bowling Club is purchasing one of four respiratory monitors which are needed to loan to families with babies who are deemed at risk of SIDS. The monitors are worth $1400 each.

Cherrie Hill, the Social Club co-ordinator, has now issued a friendly challenge to nearby clubs to come on board to raise the money for the monitors.

“It’s been a wonderful way to involve the club with the community and to be able to help purchase one of these monitors is a special way to help save the life of a baby,” Cherrie said.

“If we could set the example for other clubs to come on board and help purchase all four, this would touch many families’ lives in the community.”

Rebekka Battista, Our Kids Fundraising co-ordinator said: “For the Alstonville Bowling Club to come together and raise money for Prostate Cancer and Our Kids shows they are very community aware and willing to help those in need.”

If other clubs would like to become involved in helping to purchase the respiratory monitors, please contact Rebekka on 6620 2705.
