Weekend surf report

wilsonc.jpgSurfing conditions in the Ballina region have been good this week, with a constant north-east swell providing some good waves.

Unfortunately, though, the dreaded weekend curse of onshore winds has hit today, with a north-easterly blowing and more onshore winds predicted for the weekend.

An early start or a trip to places such as South Ballina or Tallow Beach might result in a decent surf.

Meanwhile, dates for the Far North Coast regional titles for both shortboards and longboards have been set.

The shortboards will have the usual three rounds of competition, with the first round at Cabarita on March 17 and 18.

The following two rounds will be at Yamba on April 14 and 15, while the final round is set down for May 19-20 at Byron Bay.

Entry forms and disclaimers are available from the Surfing Australia website and all club secretaries should also have copies, while selected surf shops will have them shortly.
Please note, there will be separate entry forms for each round.

Contact Surfing Far North Coast president, Paul Young, on 66 853 466 or 0403 730 306, or email pwy@aapt.net.au for further information.

On the longboard scene, this year’s regional titles will be held at Cabarita on March 24 and 25.

With the possibility of the national titles being also held in the Cabarita area from September 1-8, or at least somewhere north of Newcastle, large numbers are expected at this year’s regionals.

Entry forms are expected to be out within a week and will be available via the Australian longboard website and the Surfing Australia website, as well as from club secretaries.

Contact the regional delegate, Keenan Roxburgh on 66 822 655 or 0431 272 712 for more information.
