Woman dies in Ballina; man to appear in court
A man will appear in court today charged over the death of a woman on Friday night (23 February) in West Ballina.
At 10.40pm, a 40-year-old man called emergency services to a home in Riverside Drive, where they located a 37-year-old woman deceased inside the house.
At 1.30am yesterday (24 February), detectives from Richmond Local Area Command arrested a 40-year-old man at his West Ballina home.
The man was conveyed to Ballina Police Station and later charged with maliciously inflict grievous bodily harm with intent and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
He was refused bail to appear at Lismore Bail Court today.
Police are awaiting the completion of post mortem results early this week. Inquiries are continuing.
