Weekend surf report

Conditions are promising for surf this weekend, with decent waves expected from Evans Head, north to Ballina and on to Lennox Head.

Today there’s a north-east swell of more than a metre, courtesy of low pressure systems off the northern Queensland coast, and it’s likely that it will hang around for the weekend.

The northern end of Shelly Beach at Ballina has been a popular spot, with a good left-hand bank providing decent waves.

Meanwhile, congratulations are in order for the Le-Ba Boardriders’ effort in the Jim Beam Surftag National final.

The Le-Ba boys finished third behind North Narrabeen and North End in last weekend’s final at Sydney’s Curl Curl beach.

The third placing followed wins in the Queensland final and the Kirra Teams Challenge.
