$5.8m grant for FNC Early Intervention Program

The Consortium of Neighbourhood Centres will receive more than $5.8 million over the next three years to implement the Early Intervention Program on the Far North Coast, Ballina MP Don Page has announced.

Mr Page said the Consortium, which includes local Neighbourhood Centres, pre-schools, kindergartens, child care centres and health services, would receive $5,867,609 from the NSW Department of Community Services.

He said the Early Intervention Program aims to enhance child well-being and strengthen families.

“The Early Invention Program can improve family resilience, promote healthy child development and reduce child abuse and neglect,” Mr Page said.

“The program includes case management, home visiting, parenting programs and child care services for eligible families with children up to eight years old.

“The program gives priority to families with children younger than three.”

Mr Page said the funding would help many families and is offered through an integrated approach.

“This program will assist families in this area who need it most,” he said.
