Ballina to host community health meeting
The first community meeting to be hosted in Ballina by the North Coast Area Health Advisory Council will be held at the Ballina Motor Inn at 10am on Thursday 5 April 2007.
Members of the public are invited to attend the meeting, which will be preceded by morning tea at 9.30 am.
“This community meeting will provide an excellent opportunity for exchange between the Advisory Council and community members from the Ballina area,” said the Chair, Dr Sue Page.
The State’s Area Health Advisory Councils were appointed by the NSW Minister for Health in September 2005 as part of the strategy in the reform of area health services across the State. They are a crucial part of the NSW Government’s plans to ensure local communities and clinicians play an integral role in the planning and development of health services.
The councils work with the Chief Executives of the Area Health Services to ensure that clinicians, patients and the community are effectively engaged and consulted.
“The Members of the North Coast AHAC were selected for their understanding of the health challenges facing the local area’s diverse communities,” said North Coast Area Health Service’s Chief Executive, Chris Crawford.
The members of the North Coast Area Health Advisory Council are: Dr Sue Page – Chair, Dr Christopher Ingall, Dr Geoff Ramin, Ms Hazel Bridgett, Ms Sandra Woods, Ms Leonie Crayden, Dr Bruce Hodge, Mr Scott Wagner, Dr Helena Johnston, Mr Warren Grimshaw, Dr Janice Herbert and Ms Bertha Kapeen.
