Paul Hickey is new council GM
Mayor of Ballina Cr Phillip Silver has announced details of the appointment of the new Ballina General Manager, Mr Paul Hickey.
CrSilver said the council was impressed with Mr Hickey’s extensive successful track record in financial management, human resource management and communication to achieve good social, environmental and economic outcomes in many important projects under his management, also his people skills in dealing with the multiple issues that Local Government deals with.
Mr Hickey’s previous experience includes senior positions at Lismore City, Byron and Ballina Shire councils. Mr Hickey and his partner, Penny, have lived in Ballina since 1994, with their two children attending local schools.
“Mr Hickey has been employed on a five-year performance-based contract and Council looks forward to working closely with Mr Hickey in the management of our organisation,” Cr Silver said.
Mr Hickey replaces John Christopherson, who resigned to take up an engineering position in Brisbane.
