Views sought on future development of Council land
Ballina Shire Council has commissioned GeoLINK to prepare a master plan for Council owned land located in and around the Southern Cross Industrial Estate in Ballina. The master plan will provide a framework for the detailed planning and release of the land. The study area contains a number of significant and important land uses that service the Ballina community including the Ballina/Byron Gateway Airport, Southern Cross Industrial Estate and the Ballina Waste Management Facility. Parts of the site also have significant environmental value.
Council is conducting a comprehensive community consultation process in order to determine the views of the community on how the study area could be developed to best meet the future needs of the wider community. The community consultation process will have two main focuses:
- to provide information to the community on the master plan process and on opportunities, constraints and issues within the study area; and
- to obtain from the community, ideas, visions and concepts for the future development of the study area.
The community consultation process will commence with an Open Day on Saturday 5 May 2007 to be held between 9 am and 12 noon in River Street, Ballina, adjacent to the pedestrian lights. Members of the community are invited to attend to discuss the project with the GeoLINK team. Residents are also encouraged to provide feedback, ideas, visions and concepts in relation to how the study area might be developed. Feedback forms will be available on the day.
Comments will be received by GeoLINK up until Monday 21 May 2007.
The GeoLINK team will also be available to answer any telephone and email enquiries for people who are unable to attend on the day. The contact details for the project consultant are:
