Surf patrol season ends tomorrow
Bathers beware — Wednesday is the final day for the 2006-07 season that surf lifesavers throughout New South Wales will be manning the beaches.
Surf Lifesaving NSW says that more than 30,000 volunteers have patrolled the State’s beaches this summer, performing thousands of rescues and tens of thousands of first aid treatments and preventative actions.
The 2006/07 patrol season, which began back on 30 September 2006, completes the first half of what is a historic 12 months for the movement, with 2007 being celebrated as the Year of the Surf Lifesaver. Activity associated with this historic year will remain in place over the winter months before the 2007/08 patrol season begins 29 September 2007.
