Weeekend fishing report

NSW Fishing Monthly editor Tony Zann’s weekend fishing report …

A few whiting and some big flathead in the lower reaches of the Richmond, according to Bruce at Dave’s Bait Shop. Bream starting to move through but mostly smaller fish.

A few small school jew at Wardell.

Blackfish just average with half a dozen here and there, mainly Prospect Bridge and the Porpoise Wall.

Quite a few sand crabs in North Creek and the Town Reach.

Tailor have been very good along South Beach.

The close reefs and Riordans had mackerel, snapper and pearlies on the wider grounds.

At Evans Head the water is back to a cool 21 degrees and the mackerel and baitfish have gone quiet. The odd snapper and trag about outside. Some tailor up towards Broadwater Beach and a few around the headlands. River is fairly quiet apart from those shy bream and the odd flathead and whiting. A few nice whiting
