Healthy Futures Fund nearer its goal
A raffle and two more fund-raising events are expected to get the Ballina Shire Healthy Community Futures Fund ‘over the line’ in its bid to raise $150,000 to purchase computerised radiography X-ray equipment for Ballina District Hospital.
The fund, established last December, is just $10,000 short of its goal.
Two major donations over the past week have seen the fund total about $140,000. More than 100 golfers played in a charity day at Ballina Golf Club last Sunday, raising $20,000, while Richmond Mortgage Fund equalled the biggest single donation when it handed over $5000. The AMP Foundation matched the amount raised at the golf day on a dollar-for-dollar basis.
A Men of League fund-raiser, another by the Ballina Inner Wheel Club and a raffle offering a trip to Lord Howe Island are expected to see the goal reached soon.
