Weekend surf report
Winter-like conditions earlier in the week have given way to northerly winds and a small swell as we head into the weekend.
Those lucky enough to have time off earlier in the week were greeted with offshore winds and a swell which got to about four foot mid-week, with excellent waves at Ballina’s North Wall and beach breaks right up the coast.
However, this weekend’s forecast is not good: Northerlies are predicted through to Monday, so an early start would be advisable.
Meanwhile, Lennox Head’s Anthony Walsh confirmed his status as a big-wave rider in the Air Tahiti Nui Von Zipper Trials at Teahupoo in Tahiti this week. That’s Anthony pictured.
Walsh, 24, scored a perfect 10 in the final but could not beat local Manoa Drollet. However, he gained entry into the main event, which is due to start today.
Check out the Surfing Australia website to find out how Anthony goes over the weekend.
