Weekend surf report

There’s plenty of swell, but it’s a mess.

The north-east swell of the past few days has been roughed up by a south-easterly change, making conditions at Evans Head, Ballina and Lennox Head pretty well unsurfable today.

The forecast for the weekend is for south-east to easterly winds. If the swell cleans up a bit, there might be a wave at Lennox Point, while Byron could be worth a look.

Meanwhile, Lennox Head’s Anthony Walsh and his fellow pros are still waiting for some swell in the Billabong Pro in Tahiti.

Walsh gained a wildcard entry and finished second in his round one heat to Mick Fanning. He now will surf off against Bede Durbidge in round two — that’s provided the swell picks up. The past four days have seen the event put on hold due to conditions.
