Shannon Walker’s other talent: Art

Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League fans will be well aware of the sporting ability of Shannon Walker, the former Kyogle player who now is a member of the Gold Coast Titans Development Squad.

But not all would be aware of his other talent: Art.

Shannon and his family from Tabulam on Monday will help launch the Titans’ major sponsorship of the All Saints Anglican School’s Prometheus Visual Arts award for 2007.

The Titans said that for the past 45 years, the Walker family have been producing traditional Aboriginal artwork including boomerangs, didgeridoos and clap sticks.

Shannon, a former Australian Schoolboy representative, and his family will demonstrate their traditional art at the launch.

Manwhile, in local rugby league, the high-flying Ballina Seagulls will take on South Grafton at Kingsford Smith Park, Ballina, on Sunday.

Ballina have been beaten only once this season and are coming off a good win over the fancied Lower Clarence Magpies last Sunday.
